Join Family Mensa for a picnic and a wander round this wonderful 12th century castle. And, if that’s still too modern for your tastes, the on-site museum covers 350 million years of this spectacular location’s history.
Clitheroe Castle and Museum, Clitheroe, 11:30, Sunday 11th August 2019.
Clitheroe Castle Museum stands high on Castle Hill, in the shadow of the keep, an image which has dominated Clitheroe's skyline for over 800 years. It tells the story of Clitheroe and its surrounding area: the formation of the land 350 million years ago; the people who have lived in the area - their work, their homes, their leisure times; and legends and folklore.
Come along for a relaxed picnic with your fellow Mensans, before exploring this fascinating site. There is, of course, a cafe, should the weather conspire against us.
As with all Family Mensa events, non-members accompanying a Mensan are very welcome - be they parents, grandparents, siblings or otherwise.
Adult - £4.50
Concessions - £3.40
Under 18s - Free
Tickets will be available on the day.
We'll meet at the main entrance to the museum at 11:30, and first find a nice spot for the picnic. Please bring enough for your own party - though anything we can all share will be warmly appreciated.
Rachel will be holding up a big Mensa logo, ready to welcome the group.
Should you be joining us, she'd greatly appreciate an RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org, to help anticipate numbers, and ensure the whole group sets out together.
Latecomers remain very welcome, just call Rachel on 07815687795 so you can be united with the group.
