If you've played board games with Mensans before, you won't need me to persuade you to join us for an afternoon of gaming; if you haven't played with us before, you're missing out!
This month we are featuring a brand new, yet-to-be-released game: Blood on the Clocktower. This is a bluffing game with opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who conducts the action and makes crucial decisions.
Doctor Duncan's, Liverpool, 14:00, Sunday 3rd February 2019
Ben from the Blood on the Clocktower team is coming along specially to introduce us to the game - so we really hope you can make it!
We'll have a selection of other board and card games with us and you're very welcome to bring along your own. Don't worry, no prior knowledge is assumed, so if your experience doesn't extend far past Scrabble, there will be someone to explain the rules.
This is a family-friendly event and we welcome family and friends of Mensans too. Children are very welcome, however under 18s are only allowed in the pub until 5pm. This still gives us 3 hours of playing time though, so please do bring your family along.
Please note that our featured game, Blood on the Clocktower, is not suitable for all ages. There is a high level of concentration and paying attention involved, with a suggested minimum age of 10 years - but there will be other games for youngsters.
Doctor Duncan's is an old-fashioned looking pub, with tiled walls and big tartan armchairs; named after William Henry Duncan, Liverpool's first Medical Officer of Health. It's known for its selection of guest ales, and has a good variety of spirits too.
It serves traditional pub grub until 19:30, including pies from the famous Pieminister.
The pub is excellently located for public transport- it's just over the road from Lime Street station, and just round the corner from Queen's Square bus station. If you're driving in then we'd recommend the NCP at Moorfields, which seems to be the cheapest.
